Since leaving university there have been many events in and around London that have a fancy dress theme of some description. I’ve always found it fun to dress up and I find it makes an evening more memorable. Our new website makes the selection of complete outfits simple and delivery around the Earlsfield area can be really quick. You can also order online and collect from our warehouse on Lydden Road.
With New Year’s Eve less than 8 weeks away there is never a better time to plan your own fancy dress event. Pick a theme, join in the fun and welcome the New Year in style. People always ask what my favourite themes are so I thought I’d share my secrets. I’ve hosted a number of New Year’s parties with some fairly wacky themes but my favourites are 1920’s, Masquerade Ball and Mad Hatters Tea Party.
I adore the glitz and glamour of the 1920’s era with Great Gatsby style flapper dresses and gangster costumes. It’s always fun to go back to the decades for New Year celebrating the time specific fashion statements and fashion faux-pas.
Masquerade ball always makes for an elegant and memorable evening. Who can forget Romeo attempting to impress Juliet at the Capulet ball disguised in a mask during the opening scenes of Shakespeare's romantic tragedy?
Lastly Mad Hatters Tea party can be so much fun and it’s completely different. Ladies can play their luck as the Queen of Hearts while gents can look as sharp as White Rabbits and the Mad Hatter himself. It’s a great chance to be creative with quirky delicacies from down the rabbit hole, and beyond.
