Updated plans for Wimbledon stadium

Merton Council says:

In response to representations from consultees, and members of the public further information has been received in respect of the application and Environmental Statement, which is uploaded onto the council's website.

The new information is available to view on Merton's Planning Explorer and can be viewed by searching for the application number 14/P4361, then using the "view related documents" link at the bottom of the 14/P4361 page. Documents prefixed with "14/P4361_September 2015. are the new documents for consultation.

This supplementary information covers the following areas:

• Flood risk
• Transport
• Energy
• Retail
• Health Impact
• Statement of Community Involvement
• Access and Inclusion

This new public consultation has also been advertised by press notice and site notice and members of the public can view the additional information on the Council’s Planning Explorer (the link to this application is available under the "view the planning application" heading below).

Members of the public wishing to comment on the should do so in writing by mail or by email to planning.representations@merton.gov.uk by the above date, and should include the application number: 14/P4361

Public meeting on Wimbledon Stadium proposal

Go Earlsfield has covered the Wimbledon Stadium development plans before - the cases both for and against. Now the council is hosting a public meeting for people to come and ask questions and discuss the proposal.

When: 7pm to 8.30pm, Monday 2 February 

Where:  Drama Hall, Burntwood School, Burntwood Lane, SW17 0AQ. 

Representatives from the development company behind the scheme will attend the meeting to explain the proposal and how it will affect local people. 

The event will be chaired by Wandsworth Council’s deputy leader Cllr Jonathan Cook.

A formal planning application has been submitted to Merton Council and the documents are now available on Merton’s website. Local people can submit their views online now or after the meeting.

Wandsworth Council will submit its views on the scheme following the next planning applications committee on February 18.

Wimbledon Stadium redevelopment - the other side

Earlier on the blog I featured the 'Bring the Dons Home' campaign which encourages people to show their support for the proposed redevelopment of Wimbledon Stadium.

As with any big development there are a number of views. Wimbledon Stadium Watch (which I think is linked to the Wimbledon Park Residents Association) has concerns about flooding and transport issues. There is plenty to read on their website, and they're also holding a public meeting on Thursday 15 January, 7.30pm at the Kohat Road Church Hall, SW19 to discuss the issues in more depth.
