Help Wandsworth Radio report live from the field

It's great to see a local group doing well. Community-run Wandsworth Radio are looking for your help to take them to the next level. They're fundraising to be able to buy equipment that will let them get out of the studio and cover even more local news and events. Read more:

Local online radio station Wandsworth Radio hope to purchase outside broadcast equipment to be able to present shows live from local events across Wandsworth this summer.

The not for profit station which broadcasts 24 hours a day online at WandsworthRadio.com and on the TuneIn radio app has set up a JustGiving Crowdfunding page to raise the £2,000 to be able to buy a mixer, microphones, headphones and a laptop suitable for broadcasting at local events.

Station director Jason Rosam who's also a presenter at BBC London 94.9 said....

"Wandsworth Radio has seen a lot of success since launching in January this year. We've got 3,000 listeners tuning in every month and a number of local businesses have started advertising with us on air.

This summer we want to get out and meet our listeners at as many local events as we can.

We've already been asked to run the main stage at the Get Active Wandsworth Festival in King George's Park on Sunday July 18th and we'll also be at the Northcote Road summer fete on Saturday 12th July.

Now all we need is the equipment to be able to broadcast to those Wandsworth residents who can't make the events."

The station managed to raise over £4,000 to be able to set up their studio above the Wandsworth Oasis store in Battersea Park Road last year. 200 volunteers help run the radio station. Local people can become presenters, newsreaders, producers and journalists who contribute to the daily fifteen minute news programme Wandsworth Tonight which air every week day at 6.30pm.

If you'd like to help the station achieve the £2000 target in 30 days you can visit the Crowd funding page at: crowdfunding.justgiving.com/wandsworthradio.
