First Ride Wandsworth event takes place tomorrow

This Sunday is the first in a series of free beginners' bike rides in Wandsworth set up by the council.

They say:

"The  rides will start from the Mapleton Road entrance (near the Wandle Recreation Centre) at 2pm. They will last between one and half and two hours. The events are perfect for new or returning cyclists. Routes are mostly off road and wherever possible will use quieter back streets instead of busy main roads.

Each ride will be led by experienced, fully qualified Ride Leaders. There will breaks along the way and time to get everyone organised at the start. There are no age restrictions, however participants need to be able to ride a bike on their own. Everyone who takes part will need to provide their own working bike. Helmets are recommended for all and are compulsory for those under 16.

Rides will continue to take place on the last Sunday of each month from the same start point. They are free to attend and will continue until Spring next year. If the programme continues beyond this point a small charge may be introduced. Booking is advised as places are limited. For all enquiries and to book your place call (020) 8871 6373."
