Developer, Club make statements about Romany Scout Site ahead of public meeting

Local campaigners Save The Romany are holding a public meeting this evening to discuss the future of the site, currently part of the Magdalen Tennis Club.

Ahead of the meeting, both the club and the developer interested in the site have issued statements clarifying their position.

The club set out their reasons for wanting to raise their income and Abid David (link to PDF), who has been in negotiations with the club to buy the site, has said he wants to retain existing activities at the site, build a new nursery, and keep the site as a community asset.

The Save The Romany group have responded to the statements by setting out their ongoing concerns with the proposals and their fears for the future of the site.

Come along to the meeting to hear the latest from the tennis club, Wandsworth Borough Council, Sadiq Khan MP, Cllr Kathy Tracey, Mr Abid David, Ali Adam, the Scouts, the Twins Group, Playhouse Playgroup and other community users of the Romany and to share your own views.
