Plans for new Earlsfield primary school

To accommodate a growing number of babies born in Earlsfield (354 in 2011, up from 225 in 2003), Wandsworth Council are looking at a site for a new primary school in Garratt Lane.

The Atheldene Centre, currently used by people with learning and physical disabilities, is moving to Tooting in 2014. The council has identified it as a possible site for a nursery and primary school.

The proposal comes on the back of a the council securing funding from the Department for Education to provide extra primary school places. An extra 90 places are also being provided across Beatrix Potter, Swaffield, and Earlsfield schools.

The council will run a consultation on proposals.
