The BFI recently released a set of historic films from its archives. They've plotted them across Britain allowing a glimpse into local life from the past.
In Earlsfield you can watch:
A Catholic procession at St Gregory's in 1914
The opening of the first purpose-built mosque in London in 1926
A cardboard box factory (really) in Summerstown in 1937
The Summerstown works sports day, 1937
Summerstown works staff outings, 1938
Family Christmas in Totterdown Street, 1967
And family Christmas in 1972
Meanwhile, AP have released hundreds of new clips on their British Movietone channel. I'm sure a dedicated searcher can find more (if so, post them in the comments below!). In the meantime, how about:
Taking a train from Waterloo to Raynes Park
'Rugby netball' being played on Wandsworth Common
Lord Haw Haw hanged at Wandsworth Gaol
'Galician Gypsy' camp on Wandsworth Common
