This May marks the 37th Open Studios event. If you've not been you should definitely get yourself down to the stadium to check them out. More details from the team below:
Wimbledon Art
Studios (WAS), a thriving community of over 250 professional artists
based next to Wimbledon Dog Stadium, will be opening its doors to the
general public for four days, from Thursday 14th until Sunday 17th May 2015.
This
will be the 37th Open Studios event held at WAS — which organises the
four-day exhibition every six months. Around 150 resident artists will
be opening the doors to their creative spaces and sharing what they do
with visiting art lovers.
First
opened in 1993, WAS is now a recognised creative community spanning
well-established and emerging artists. Work produced is extremely
diverse and the 250-plus resident artists include painters, sculptors,
illustrators, designers, photographers and printmakers, among many other
disciplines.
The
four-day Open Studios event is the only opportunity for the public to
visit the studios and see the work produced. It is also an opportunity
for resident artists to sell their work directly to the public, and to
unveil new and experimental work to an enthusiastic audience. Guests
from around the UK and Europe meet under one roof to visit the studios
of artists whose work is generally shown in main international art fairs
and prestigious galleries, as well as the newest emerging talent from
Europe’s leading art colleges. Entry to the show is completely free at
all times. Previous shows have attracted around 4,000 visitors over the
four days.
