Building work for Floreat Wandsworth Primary School is well under-way at the Atheldene site in Earlsfield!
Floreat Education – a Department for Education approved Academy Sponsor – are set to open their first school in Earlsfield in September 2015, providing much needed additional school places as well as choice for local parents.
Floreat's vision is simple: to enable all children to flourish by developing their academic potential and a broad range of character virtues. Reflecting the classical ideals of education, the development of positive character traits will be central to both the curriculum and broader ethos at the new school.
Academically, the school will deliver a broad knowledge-rich curriculum through subject-based lessons from Reception onwards, combined with half-termly projects that give pupils the chance to apply their skills and knowledge in the outdoors or in the service of the community.
Floreat’s Managing Director, James O'Shaughnessy, who was chair of governors of Garratt Park School from 2005 to 2007, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected by Wandsworth to run their newest school. It’s a huge honour and we are very keen to learn from the experience and wisdom available in Wandsworth’s family of outstanding schools. We are determined to create one of the best schools in the area.
“We will shortly be appointing the Executive Principal for the school and looking forward to deepening our engagement with local parents and other members of the community.”
With various community engagement activities and admissions information sessions in the pipeline, local parents and community members are encouraged to keep an eye on the website at www.floreat.org.uk and the Floreat Wandsworth twitter page https://twitter.com/FloreatWands.
